..."gold coin" 1/18 diecast ever done.
Being the first (I believe ) Signature pulled out all the stops on their 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk. Although still a bit crude in some areas, but exceeding in detail (for the price ) in others. Weighing in at OVER 3 pounds (yikes! 😬 🙂) much of this replica is diecast including the gloss black rolling chassis. I've even taken a few of these apart just to display the chassis.
...and, auh...yes, there's scale dust on the engine. 😏 😏
I have one of these in storage. Need to pull it out and have a fresh look after viewing your great images and comments.
What a superb diecast model from Yat Ming Signature Series ! It is in a great gold color here, too. I have a regular aqua green Yat Ming in 1/43 scale and a red Anson Studebaker Hawk in 1/18. These Studebaker's definitely were an impressive sporty car !
I remember very clearly the first time I ever laid eyes on a Studebaker Golden Hawk. I was around 5 and was aware of this car through newspaper ads but had never actually seen one. My folks had rented a cabin in the woods for a short family holiday. One morning I wandered outside and was awestruck by this exact same car parked at the neighboring cottage. I was stunned at how beautiful it was and the gold and white just added to my impression. I spent a long time inspecting it; I'm sure the owner must have chuckled watching my reaction to his car. That moment is etched in my brain forever. I loved it then and love it now.
IMO, it is one handsomely styled / designed cars ever ! And it still looks great today !
Have it, love it. The roll down windows are a nice touch.

I agree, I just wish the rear windows did the same.

YOU could make that happen ! And I hope we see your tutorial about it..😁

I suppose I could, or at the very least, fashion "fixed" rear glass but I have "bigger fish to fry." You'll recall, my next 1/18 "glass project" will involve the fabrication "up-windows" w/chrome frames on all four 1958 Fords from my hauler project. Being lazy, I'm in no hurry and have been doing many smaller projects to justify my procrastination. 😔 😔
My latest involved fabricating a more realistic radio antenna for one of my 1/18 WW II Sherman M4 tanks. The 3 pics:
1) What I started with... the simplified version.
2) What it should look like.
3) What I created, sans green paint & weathering.
That looks great Chris. You are a master of small details.
