Well, for us model car geeks, we're gonna turn our attention to our model car collections. One place to turn is to the model maker whose clientele is the wealthy. Amalgam!

You don't have an airbrush? I'm surprised! However, I know of a builder who only works with rattle cans and his paint work is stunning!

Knowing how lazy I am, it's not too difficult understand why... I've had airbrushes, but for my purposes, all that cleaning & upkeep negates the results, considering I can achieve the same w/rattle-cans, rubbing compounds & gloss cote. Airbrushes have their place, for sure... I've heard of many who paint 1:1 cars and purchase a gross of cheapy-to-medium priced airbrushes.... but never clean them. After the project, they simply throw them away. With "Superlotto money" ... that's what I would do! 😏 😆 😏

I've had very good luck with rattle cans. And this way I can go to my auto parts store and get the authentic color that the car was painted in so I can match the model to the 1:1

@100ford2003 That's really the ONLY thing I miss about airbrushes. I'm excellent at color-matching but doing that means I'm brushing on the paint. With rattle cans I'm restricted to what's available (which, however, is pretty good these days.... lot's colors & sources )

Thanks Marty for sharing that video. I'm thinking I have a hard sell ahead of me in selling my wife why I want to sell the house for a model car. Wish me luck.

Thanks Marty for sharing that video. I'm thinking I have a hard sell ahead of me in selling my wife why I want to sell the house for a model car. Wish me luck.
