The Blues – French style
One of my favorite Matra race cars in the national racing color of France.

The car is the Matra 630.........
It first raced at Le Mans in 1968 where it held its own for a time against the MKI Ford GTs, the Porsche 907s and 908s and the Alfa T33/2s getting as high as 2nd place before catching fire during on of its late pit stops.
Matra had planned for the car to be an 'all French' affair but a proper engine could not be developed quickly enough for the 1968 season so it ran with a Cosworth F-1 engine
The 630 coupe ran again in 1969 but Matra phased it out in favor of the 650 & 670 spyders.
