I've owned two Ford Broncos, a 1986 3rd generation and the last year (1996) of the 5th gen. The '96 was getting old and tired and suffering from the Jersey curse of road salt induced rust. So it sat there mainly because my daughters wouldn't let me sell it. I loved those Broncos for their utilitarian design with their massive cargo area, electric rear window and they still retained the vent windows which I also love. After a lot of begging and pleading, I signed it over to my younger daughter and she took it to the US Merchant Marine Academy motor pool and worked on it when she could. When she graduated, she brought the limping SUV back to the house while she began her career. Finally living in Long Beach, Ca where she could get regular employment, she had the Bronco shipped to her rented home and worked on it between tours, continuing ed courses and Naval Reserve duties. Her ultimate restoration plans ( she still hasn't been able to secure a Coyote engine for a swap) changed when friends took her for desert dune runs in their modded SUVs and pickups and so far that's where she wants to head. Greenlight came out with 1/18 5th gen Broncos about 6 months ago and all the models were fire, police and EMT variants. Finally, as luck would have it, they released a civilian version and astonishingly, it was an Eddie Bauer model with exactly the same paint scheme (Electric Red Metallic and Tuscon Bronze), wheels and tires as mine/hers. After her last run, she flew to our house for Thanksgiving so I quietly put it on one of her shelves before she arrived. As she dragged her suitcases into her old room, she noticed it before she got all the way through the door. She loved it!

The model is in the $70 to $80 range and only the door operate. The top is removable but ironically the 5th gen Bronco is the only gen where the top is not lawfully removable due to safety changes in Federal law.

Great pics Rich!  My friend ("Mr. 400" )  has owned about 20 of these. We drove one from Utah to Vegas about 26 years ago. I bought a 1/18 Police version for my "LAPD"  collection.  Cutting that hood open will be an easy project but finding/fabricating all the correct "under the hood"  components will not be.....so I haven't done anything yet. 🙄

Greenlight  did a nice job with these.

Very nice model Bronco and it looks excellent in that color ! I drove a 1985 4wd black and silver Bronco for a while. They were very popular vehicles back then and one of my nieces has a new Ford Bronco presently.

I always really liked the big Broncos, especially the later ones.  Looks like a great model!

Love your father-daughter-Bronco relationship story, Rich. This is what binds families together.
