My long-awaited pit-girls have finally arrived from the other side of the globe. First a couple of eBay images and then pics of the girls at work:
I have decided the two 'sisters' will own/race this car, and another figure representing the father will be arriving shortly. Kind of a family affair. If I go ahead with the garage diorama, there will be another Bugatti, but not a yellow one.
COOL! They look great beside the cars! Like your idea of owners/racers!
"If I go ahead with the garage diorama, there will be another Bugatti, but not a yellow one."
"If?" You must go ahead with the garage diorama..... "Scale surroundings" really help to sell the illusion. 😉 😉
@chris I have three in process, but space is a big consideration, as it is something I am already running short on. I do have a project question for you, which I will post in the appropriate forum.
By the way, where did you get that amazing Cadillac flower car?!
"By the way, where did you get that amazing Cadillac flower car?"
This gorgeous 1/18 1959 Cadillac "Coupe de Fleur" was produced by Precision Miniatures about 20 years ago. Being the '59 Cad fan that I am - this was a must have model.
The crazy part is that these were NOT popular when new; subsequently, I pick this up (NIB) at a trade show for practically zero money - and I wrote a check for it! Today, anything less than $500.00 would be deemed "a good deal." (....naturally, I also have the matching hearse-set and the limousine ).
wouldn't trust them with those tools............
@gdh Yes, that's the "hearse-set" I mentioned: The Landu & Limo versions. I also have the ambulance versions. Don't laugh too hard at my HW's GB Cadillac..... one day I plan on removing all that "crap" to make a stock ambulance; it's actually a very good - full function - model. 😉
When I was younger, actually much younger, I often thought about how cool it would be to make a hearse into an estate wagon. That was before I came close to needing one, in real life. After that the allure dissipated. I do like the lines of these Caddies, though.
How will you remove the decals from the paint?
"How will you remove the decals from the paint?"
HA! Carefully with acetone free nail polish remover or similar paint thinners. The trick is to be FAST. These ligiids act quickly: dab it on, then wipe it off. I've successfully removed many tampo decals & stripes in this way.
Here's just a few quick examples. The black 1/64 SS SUVs were multi-colored Police cars. HA! It's just a coincidence that almost ALL these examples are black!
Thanks guys. Interesting posts. Those figures, especially the girls, add an interesting variation to our models and dioramas.
@chris Wow Chris, while I don't collect service cars, yours are amazing along with the pictures.
