The 312T4 was the last successful iteration of the 312T series. It was the result of yearly rules changes as well as aerodynamic factory modifications to narrow the body. The narrowing was limited by the width of the flat 12 and development of a whole new successor for the '80s had begun. the T4's 1979 was quite a success ending with another Constructor's Championship and gave Jody Scheckter his only Driver's Championship.

the 70s & 80s were a fantastic era of F1, where the cars all looked somewhat different.  Big change from today.
