I was enthralled with the design and the success of the GT40 Mkll (although I though its nemesis, the 330P4 was sexier). But when I saw the J5 Mk lV in 1967, I was blown away by its incredible lines. Touted as the first all American made winner of the Le Mans classic that year (chassis and drive train) with that powerful 7.0 liter V8, I thought it would rule the automotive world for many years to come. Ironically, it became a 'one year wonder'. For 1968, the 7 liter displacement engine was banned with maximum displacement limited to 5 liters. Ford's winning ways would continue, however, with Brit John Wyer's (Automotive Enginnering, Ltd) use of the remaining 4.9 liter Mkls and Mklls with his Gulf liveried entries winning in '68 and '69.

That paint is as exciting as the rest of the model, and you captured it very well. Outstanding pics!!
What a wonderful model, Rich. Interesting post, as always. Thank you.
