The REAL Batmobile in my hometown!!!
On an errand this morning I saw the REAL 1:1 Batmobile on a trailer behind a Cadillac Escalade.. The Fayetteville, Arkansas owner is a unique car collector, obviously, as he used to own a George Barris-built Batmobile, and now is going to have this twenty foot long car put up for auction in Oklahoma. He said it is a bit dangerous to drive because when motorists pass him, they definitely rubberneck and veer to the right or left depending on which way their heads are turned when rubbernecking.
Having never seen any of the 1:1 Batmobiles in person, I was struck by the sheer size of this one, the hefty fiberglas construction, the tall fins, the huge rear tires and the the involved instrument cluster. Very impressive to see in person and it was right here in my hometown about a 1/2 mile from where I live!!!
I guess you could say I helped sort of finance this Batmobile. I bought my first home from the Batmobile owner's father in the 70s.
By the way, my first impressions of the car were that with the canopy closed it strongly resembled a Dodge Viper up-top and the front end looked Corvette-like.
Hope you like the snaps.

Model Basis?
Did he say what this kit was based on, or whose kit is was?
The owner stated that it was the actual movie car. Whether this is true or not, I cannot say. All I know is that he said he owned it and he is putting it up for auction in Oklahoma. Even though I'm not a devoted Batman fan as such, I did find this car to look pretty dog-gone cool and well fabricated. From those standpoints alone, that is why I posted the pictures.
