The BMW V12 LM and the Audi R8R prototypes dueled it out at the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans with the BMW getting its only win at Le Mans beating out the Audi. The following year, for Le Mans, BMW would just provide the engines for the Williams Race Team. So as not to let the V12 LMs go to waste, they ran them in the American Le Mans series where the Audi R8R got its revenge beating the BMWs handily.
Nice images, Rich. I have this pairing next to each other in my display case.
I've got the Maisto 1999 BMW V12 LM and the 2002 Infenion Audi R8, both are nice models but I forget if they have any openings. Have to check the next time I open the display cabinet.
Just how did Maisto accomplish these at their price point ....? Amazing.
@old-caddys they're sealed.
Thanks Rich, I've thought off and on since I got the Maisto BMW about replacing it with the Kyosho version which is a very nice model. Maybe I'll check eBay to see what they are going for now if any are even for sale.
