I think it is perhaps possible that the original post goes through ok, but the WP warning causes one to re-post it again, leading to two posts. Maybe a WordPress software update had some apparent glitches.
This is pointing to WordPress as it seems to be happening no matter what device and operating system is being used to post, I think a call or email to WordPress alerting them to this problem is in order. I am guess if there was a software update it has a bug in it that needs to be correct by WordPress.
I've had the problem, too. It wouldn't publish my post. I'd look later to see if it was repaired but only to discover the same post was repeated three or four times. I tried different browsers, but the problem persisted.
I use Word Press on my business website. From time to time, I do experience temporary glitches, but then I get an email from Word Press acknowledging there was a problem, and they internally corrected the issue.
P.S. It happened again.
