If he could cast his eyes on this supercar. He'd recognize his initialed logo all over the car and with the Bugatti 16.4 called the Veyron, he'd note its namesake was his factory driver Pierre Veyron. As a designer and builder of high performance luxury cars, I'm sure he would marvel at this 1010 HP beast with its W16, 4 turbocharged engine that won't stop pulling until you hit 253 mph. By the time your average supercar goes from 0 to 60, you're at 100 mph. Aircraft hydraulic pistons begin to raise a double set of rear spoilers at 135 mph to help keep you glued to the road until the world going by becomes a blur. Bugatti's philosophy of 'if you want the best, you gotta pay for it' holds true with the cars MSRP of $1,657,700. With virtually every feature given a strong 'thumbs up', the only negatives are that it's noisier than a full race Viper, the ride is fairly harsh and oh yeah, the price. Some say the sound system isn't all that great, but you can't hear it anyway. Looking at his 1924 Type 35, he'd have to marvel at what a difference a century makes.

Both are magnificent vehicles but I suspect I would have more fun driving ten miles in the full sized 35 than one hundred miles in the Veyron. Both models are would go well in my collection. Â Thanks Rich.

I'm inclined to agree with that.
Nice photo-shoot, comparison pics Rich. I wonder how many makes will be celebrating 200 year anniversaries. Â
10 miles at top speed in the Type 35 would probably be as scary as the Veyron at 253 mph. I remember the old days winding out my 383 Satellite shifting from 3rd to 4th at 105mph wondering if the car wasn't going to disintegrate. Today, I can accidentally hit over 100 on the highway and not even realize it until I look at the speedometer and I'm in a V6 Azera!
Great models, @rich-sufficool. I never really paid much attention to the Veyron when it came out...then I saw one in person & started reading about the engineering involved. Still don't love the styling, but its an impressive, imposing car.
Mine is the Concept version, so it has some slight differences vs Rich's production car. Pictured with the Veyron's successor, the Chiron, by Maisto.

Yep! I've said the same.... an engineering wonder but that styling, although bold, is not beautiful....IMO.Â
I like the styling on the Chiron. Is it larger than the Veyron?
Thanks for the writeup and pictures Rich. Fortunately I have both models pictured displayed together.

I like the styling on the Chiron too. It is noticeably wider than the Veyron, especially up front. Not sure about other measurements. Could be the Maisto is off-scale.
I love the Veyron and Chiron. My understanding the annual cost of maintenance is approximately $100k. Definitely not for the financial faint of heart. Â
a local family that posts their collection on Instagram just posted that their 3 Bugattis (Veyron Vitesse, Chiron & Chiron SS) all came back from their annual service. Can't imagine what that bill was. 😲
