A 1931 Rolls-Royce Phantom II with Brewster Henley Roadster coachwork. A Springfield, Massachusetts Rolls. Brewster & Company were described as the most famous and well-known coachwork supplier for American Rolls-Royce. From the images available there seem to be a lot still around. I found 2 cars with full body “off white” colouring and others with full body maroon paint or maroon fenders. So, I took a little license and combined the two. The off white, it’s called Racing White from Tamiya, was terrible to apply, so thin and runny, it even ran down the slight slope to the edges of the hood top. A lot of gentle sanding and repainting needed. Probably not the ideal model for someone returning to kit building after 60 years, many very intricate parts, opening doors etc, however it is a great model for the experienced builder. I’ve sorta finished making it after stopping a couple of times because to be honest, it was just too hard! However, I’m quite happy with it now. I still have 2 side mirrors to attach to the windscreen frame. Will be one helluva job. Both parts around 1-2 millimetres in width with no placement indentations. I’ll tackle the job hopefully after my dexterity continues to improve. I’ll leave the 1930s cars for a while now to move onto other decades.
Geoff, I love your color choices and the build looks great! It could pass for a Franklin Mint model. Well done!
A suggestion when painting: First spray a light mist coat, let it dry so it's tacky, then spray a second heavier coat. The light tacky coat helps the second coat of paint stick and not run.
ahah, thanks Pete will do, and thanks for your kind comments.
Beautiful build Geoff. Like Pete, I love your color choices.
Geoff. What a superb build. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding work Geoff !!.....Your productivity is raising eyebrows in the main office !!!....are you part Dervish or have you made a pact with Ol` Scratch ?
Good fortune on the side mirror placements....in the meantime, just pay little heed to anyone driving behind you
Very well done...it's a beauty! Your patience is admirable.
