I was walking past the bargain basement counter at a model show where the diecasts were 2 for $25 and saw this '47 Caddy and bundled it with a '47 Chevy Fleetline and took them home. As to the Caddy, the exterior wasn't horrible. This was the last year of the taillights mounted in chromed castings before the advent of tailfins the following year. The interior was a monochrome yuk but was sculpted pretty well, so I went to work. The white exterior seemed something a wealthy woman would drive so I went with shades of pink and cream. I foiled the 'juke box' radio with a blackwash and paint detailing along with the gauges. I painted the dash and trim faux wood. I painted the engine components but didn't expend a lot of energy there. Anyway, by the time I decided to quit putzing around with it, the model looked a lot better, but definitely NOT a showpiece. I just told myself, "What do you want for $12.50?" LOL
The wealthy woman has good taste in cars - looks GREAT!! Nice job!
Nicely done Rich! tma 1939
Rich, I think it looks great for a cheapie. I love doing the same thing. A little detail work does wonders. Great job.👍💯
masterpiece Rich! How about that dash?
Nice work Rich, and a deal for sure. Not sure what it looks like close up in person, but your photos make it look worth much more than $12.50. Thanks for sharing!
