1958 Packard Hawk 50th Anniversary Edition...

Saw this auction on ebay, I was going to place a bid, looks like a nice model, but the price now is way out of my league...some of these diecast are going for large sums of money.

The way to control the higer(er) prices is to not pay them. We have the power. If only more people would realize that, we'd not have the high prices for most things that we do.

I like the Packard, but the price points in this case are way out of line. I know I have found some cars I have missed out on, and I am paying more then I would have a couple of years ago. The bottom line is, I still pay the high prices, but much less frequently.

Hi George...

You make a valid point. When this one sells for $700+ you can be sure that there will be other sellers who will put up their same Packard model with a start bid of $650 or more. Previously this model could be had for ~$200, maybe a little more.

Hi Alan - yes I have experienced the same thing...

Prices are higher than a couple of years ago. Fortunately, there are few models that I want that badly, and I wouldn't pay anywhere near $700 for any of them.

Brad, A New-In-Box model sold two weeks ago on eBay for $$255.

While a little pricey, it is more reasonable than the current one on eBay. I would guess there are two people who really want this model. Keep looking and I bet you can find one for a much more reasonable price. Thank goodness I bought mine direct from DM. I've owned several 1:1 Packards so wanted to add this one to my collection.
