58 Bonnies came today. One thing I noticed that I didn't know:

DM is making 5,000 of these! I suppose the advertisement that it's limited to this year's production is OK, but I didn't realize this year's production would be that many.

Of course since delivery began so late in the year, I also have to wonder if they really made 5,000 this year, or if "limited to this year" is a wee fib. Bet we will never know...

BTW: Car exceeded expectations!

One never really knows how many are produced when production is limited to a certain year. A huge order could be placed prior to 2009 and if so, these cars could be offered for many years to come.

This beauty arrived yesterday....#80. I know this has been addressed, but why the spotlight?

Thomas I didn't know it was limited to 2008 but ....

5,000 is usually the "standard" issue that DM does in LEs that are NOT limited to a year, but till they run out. This could be a case (like many past models), that "production is limited to 2008" meaning if it dosn't sell out so fast they physically won't be made after 12/31/08, but DM will have inventory till they run out which could be 2 months into '09 all the way to 2011++ if it's not a popular model! I've seen this many times that a model that was made ONLY in XX year is still available 2 years later and the slogan "Hurry limited quantities remain, once they are gone they are gone for good"

Good Freudian slip at the end.

It's a pretty clear indication when it says #475 of 5000.

The letter with my brochure states that production ends 12/31/2008.....

There is no mention to a quantity limit of 5000...... BUT,
as some have noted, the LE tag is ## of 5000. See Tony's preview....

Hum.... that IS odd, always to my knowledge when DM issues an LE ....

Unique to "Production will end 12/31/08" its an "open issue" meaning it could be 3,000, 7,000, 12,000+ etc. (Think 1953 White LE Corvette). If it's limited to only 5,000 TOTAL (Majority of DM's LEs), why would anyone care when production ends? This dosn't sound correct, and I think it's a slip up on Marketing's part!

As far as I am concerned.............

I don't care of LEs. If I like I buy if not I pass. 500, 1000 or 5000 doesn't matter.

That's ALWAYS the best approach to collecting anything!

Buy what you LIKE, not what you think is an investment, or will be" worth money, or whats "rare" , buy what pleases YOU! Smile
