Anybody ever hear of this Franklin mint 1963 white Impala? It's offered for a mere 1999.99

Any takers?

I have the red one and installed the red interior from a silver car with serious front end problems. I rather like the result.

My opinion...the '63 Chevy from Franklin is one of their absolute worst models.  The extremely HIGH front fenders are a major flaw.  I have the RED version and the GRAY one.  Neither is even remotely close to being a favorite.

You could probably find someone to paint one white for 10% of this price.

+1, nice job David. We see these sorts of listings from time to time, don't we?

A 'prototype' with TFM, generally refers to a model that eventually goes into production after their quality sample meets approval. This one is more likely a 'color sample'.

If so, it is conceivable that there could be documentation available.

This white Impala with black interior is a color sample, most likely from Roy Rauch's collection. The price is not that exceptional for the right buyer. The same seller has a white MB350SL listed for 4K, how about that? Also check the completed sales for the same seller, there are some nice stuff there!

In case there is some confusion, my point is not about the price of certain models - there are plenty 1/43s in excess of 1K that I would happily buy if I had the money.  My point is about one's reasons for buying.  Below is the Amazon listing for a book which I happened to buy many years ago for a 'shelf price'. The listing is for $6,501.49 which I am sure somebody might pay if they believed the book to be of particular interest - I might if I had plenty of spare cash. But I wonder if the interest in the present '63 Impala is because it is a particularly interesting white, or because it is rare?  People should do what they want with their money; this is just a question of collecting interests.

Reference to the Lu's sample of the white '63 Impala. So at least 2 were made.

I like it in White.  Shame they did not make it.  I have 5 FM 63',  The Red, Silver and Purple Low Rider, and then the Blue and Gold convertibles.

Hear hear!

Doesn't it highlight what a remarkable collection Lu has?

It does. But when it comes to color samples and prototypes there are other big collections too Nonoise
