Building this was like trying to make a silk purse model out of a sow's ear kit lol. I also heavily relied on the spare parts box to make this happen. I used a spare Monogram '64 GTO chassis as the Chevelle and GTO were built on one and the same. Fixing the flip nose to a fixed nose. And used the wheels and tires from a Monogram '70 Chevelle kit. MCG photo etched parts used as well. I've built a lot of the Monogram muscle cars as they're 1/24. I need to do a better photo shoot on this one, these were done in haste awhile back, sorry guys.
This was the kit.
And the finished product.
I owned a 66 Chevelle. It wasn't a V-8 and never looked as good as that one! BEAUTIFUL! Terrific work Geno!
Wonderful work Geno.... wish I had your skill..
Beautiful work Geno. I haven't built models for years but when I did, I bought Monogram because they were 1/24 scale.
Another nice detailing effort on a terrific SS! Thanks Pete!
Thanks Pete, the color is '66 Madeira Maroon Poly. I'd thought about getting one of the Maisto versions. What's your opinion on it? 🙂
The Maisto is 1/24 scale and is well proportioned. The doors/hood open, and the front wheels are posable. The engine bay is one piece and painted to replicate a big block. The model will definitely benefit from a good BMFing and a little paint detailing. The interior is similar to a plastic model kit and could use detailing as well. I'm sure you could do wonders with it!
BTW, what is your source for paint?
Thanks for the info Pete. I just may pick one up and tinker with it lol. As for paint, I don't really have a specific vendor, I generally find what I'm looking for during my research phase for my next subject. I'd have to say Ebay mostly if I had to guess. 🙂 👍
