No. It's not Christopher Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci. It a pair of French run Italian Ferraris in Pioneer livery. The first is the Ferrari GTO as was run in the 1986 Monte Carlo Rallye. It's a Bburago kit build with, along with a lot of paint detailing came with a sheet of that fabulous Cartograf decals that were so much fun to work with. The other Pioneer is a Ferrari 512BB/LM also raced by Charles Pozzi's Ferrari France Team at Le Mans in 1982 in this beautiful long tail variant. The last picture is the first Pioneer I owned, bought at the Bangkok Army PX in 1970. OK. First the GTO:
Now the 512BB/LM
Here's my Pioneer SX9000:
@100ford2003 Yeah, I had a choice back then and with RMS wattage about the same, I chose the Pioneer because it had a dialable reverb, which, at the time, I thought was pretty cool. The stuff you got cheap back then was unreal and with the black market over there, I started with a simple system, sold it and ultimately could easily afford top of the line stuff with electronics, cameras and what I should have bought.... Rolex watches. Those models they offered go for 5 figures now. Who knew? I didn't.
Another great story and model Rich. Thank you.💯😎
When I got my letter carrier job I spent $$$ on a system and eventually JBL’s. We had some awesome house parties in the 70’s
