Its been a long time since I visited this site.  I used to be a regular, but after Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint stopped producing collectible diecast in 1/24 scale I kinda lost interest.  I sold off most of my collection, keeping only a few that were special to me.  But now that I'm getting up in age, with a couple medical issues this year, I've decided it might be time to move the rest of them.  Is the auction site here still a good viable alternative option to ebay or other forums to do this?

Thanks.

Not at the present time. Sorry to hear about your problems. It sounds like you wish to sell off a smaller number since you have already sold off the majority of your collection. One at a time selling would favor eBay at this time.

I wish you all the best in selling them, but especially, health-wise.

Is there any chance of offering them up to the Zone members first ? We could still offer a % fee as a buyer. I've a few models to divest myself of and am hesitant to use the bay after getting burned in the past. I'm not referring to any auction here but if the seller would like to post some of the models perhaps some of the Zone members would be interested in making an offer.

And I'm 100% with Steve here. I've become exasperated with ebay over the last couple of years. Particularly since they introduced their own "ebay shipping". Prices to Australia are diabolical. They can show shipping from the U.S. for the same model on the same page as anywhere between $35 and $135! If I can find one to buy they then shunt the box between up to 10 U.S depots before actually shipping to here then, for example, the last shipment spent 8 days sitting here in Australia somewhere, meaning the majority of models wind up with some sort of damage. They used to refund, not anymore.

If we could get some sort of trade forum going? And continue to operate it beyond helping diecastnut?

This site is funded by Legacy Motors / Mint Models, so the owners are the ones who will have to address these ideas. I'll alert them.

@diecastnut, first, let me say I'm sorry to hear you have to sell off your collection. I knwo how difficult that decision can be.

Second, the forums have never been a place to sell individual models and I don't think we're prepared to begin that practice now. This is a venue that is a safe place for us to share our passion for the hobby and hopefully encourage others to do so. We don't want it cluttered with endless streams of ads and post from sellers and dealers. Add to this the fact that we are graciously funded by Legacy and Mint Models who are not looking for competition from a free service they offer.

Third, all that being said, we realize the auctions are not functional leaving options limited for our longstanding members. So, I think it would be OK for someone to post that they are selling off thier collection while providing their contact information for anyone who may be interested. I would ask that you refrain from posting an inventory list or discussing individual models. Let all that happen offline. If you would like to make a contributon to the Zone for using their site, any amount would be appreciated but we would have to rely solely on your intergrity for that.

Sounds great to me within these/those parameters 👍

I've no issues with posting my email address so members could contact me. I wouldn't post any lists on the Zone. I'd just like collectors to have a chance to get some model before I don't know what to do with it. I'll grant you that we've all been collecting for years but maybe someone has a color you missed out on or they did.

I was delighted to see your post, but saddened that your return is to say your health isn't being kind to you.  My prayers are extended that all goes as best it can for you and hope you'll continue to post when you can and keep us informed here on the Forums.  With regard to selling some of your remaining model car collection, I like the suggestions that our John Kuvakus provided for you in his post above.  It sounds like viable solution for you.  God bless.

@jkuvakas John,

  I had no intention of listing anything for sale here on the forums.  There used to be a place (auctions) where individuals could "auction" off pieces.  I guess that was before Legacy took over the site.  Anyway thanks for your advise.
