The first day of the new year, 2023.
Happy New Year!
To celebrate the new year, let's take a look at the beginning of the Chevrolet Corvette, which will celebrate its 70th Birthday this year. After numerous prototypes, the Corvette EX-122 was introduced to the public at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on January 17, 1953, part of the General Motors Motorama. The 1st production model was released on June 30, 1953. The EX-122 is the oldest Corvette still in existence.
The Chevrolet Corvette has become a legend and is one of the oldest nameplates in the United States. Now in its 8th Generation, the Corvette is the only 2-seat car built by a major Amercian automaker. Whether you like the Corvette or not, no one can deny it's significance to the Automotive Industry.
The Danbury Mint issued the production model 1st in 2003. A very fine model. Later in 2011, DM issued the EX-122, while very similar to the production model, there are a few differences. It is also a very fine model, and one that I thought was an important model to have in my collection.

Gotta love this car. The 1:1 resided at the Kerbeck Collection in Atlantic City, NJ. Not sure of its current location.
