The final entry in this series of Packard models. Much has been said about the final two years of the Packard Company, with that DM took the time to bring us one of those final Packard models. The Hawk.
Based on the Studebaker Hawk with some extra features tacked on, the '58 Packard was certainly something to talk about. Here's both of mine.

They were so wildly styled for their time - yet that made them pretty cool. GREAT shots John!!
This one has a face only a mother could love but it sure makes a statement! Not much money in the company styling budget at that late time though, in fairness.
Love you photos, but not the cars. I passed on them when they were released and have never regretted that decision. To my eyes two cars that look like FROGS! Certainly from the front.

I have the blue one and wish I had the red one too. It displays so well!

thinking of them as frogs does nothing to diminish their appeal
.........swell cars John
Like Barry, I have the blue one and wish I also had the red as well.

More like catfish really! but still so incredibly cool. Even more so when you remember that Packard-Studebaker really made these cars, and even more cool when you consider that sixty-five years later. We are still discussing this polarizing styling design. They may not have been well-received in 1958, but today for car guys (on either side of the fence) mesmerizing!

John, initially I thought the Packard Hawk was an awkward attempt to add Packard looks to a Studebaker Hawk. Over the years, I have grown to appreciate it and love its uniqueness. I have it in 1/43 which I mainly collect but love to add either colour of these to my collection.
Thank you for this post.

I don't disagree with all you say. But they are just not for me.
