A few weeks ago, there was a post and some discussion the Holden FX & FJ sedans. Greg built a fabulous display that highlighted these models perfectly. I have always been fascinated by the design of the Holden FX & FJ sedans, and while I've never seen one in person, they remind me of a slightly smaller version of the cars that ran the Amercian roadways in the late 40s & 50s. They'd fit right in here.

With that I had a look at some of mine and it also sent me to out to see what else might be available. What I found was a model manufacturer based in Australia called Diecast Distributors of Australia, DDA. I don't anything about these models, but what I found seemed very interesting. There are a couple of dealers on eBay that offer quite a few Holden models along with others.

The colors offered on the Holden FX & FJ models are different than the ones made available from Trax. I ordered a couple of them to see what they had to offer. The models that arrived are really quite nice, and while I haven't compared them to the Trax equivalent models, they look to be almost the same, and I wouldn't be surprised if the same tooling was used.

Here's one of the 1st two I purchased, a 1953 Holden FJ Special Sedan in Yellow & Ivory

1953 Holden FJ Spec Sdn Y01
1953 Holden FJ Spec Sdn Y02

That's a neat model John. I wish we could have gotten the Efigy concept in 1/24. I love that car, it was beautifully done.

Very cool and detailed little car! With the Mints no longer producing the 1/24th product it is great to see we can still be Holden on to our dreams!

If you want to see vintage Australian automobiles, check out the series "The Doctor Blake Mysteries" on Ovation. It's set in the mid '50s and it's loaded with period Australian automobiles. In the early episodes, he drives a 1938 Coventry Standard 16.

John I'm very pleased you've added this. I have 3 Holden DDAs with a Torana on order. I'm very familiar with the cars and I can assure all the proportions are spot on. Some months back I gave them a plug here on the forum after emailing them to compliment them on what they have done so far. Got a nice response which I posted here with their OK. They continue to turn out new and repainted product. For me here in Australia DDA are a really bright light in an otherwise pretty bleak 1/24 landscape. Hope you dont mind if I forward DDA a link to this post, I'm sure they'll be pleased to see your great pics of their model.

@geoff-jowett  I too bought a DDA FX I noted that it is based on the FJ, as the FX only had a single rear tail light, the DDA model FX has two as per the FJ so not quite true to the original, but I maybe just picky...

@diecast1-24cars

I noticed the two taillights on the FX when I received (photos of mine soon) I am not completely familiar with these cars, so I figured they were probably aftermarket add-ons. Which is not uncommon on older cars seen here, modifications made for safe driving happen often.
