The Danbury Mint offered quite a few '56 DeSoto models. Those models covered the Firedome, Fireflite & Adventurer series. Each one is a sight to behold and are wonderful replicas of what I consider, the best 50s DeSoto Style (followed very closely by the '59)
Of the models offered, it is hard to pick a favorite. They each have a presence that commands attention. The Firedome was introduced in 1952, and for 1953 & 1954 it was the top-tier Desoto model. In 1955 & 1956, it was the entry-level model. From 1957-1959 in moved to the mid-level model when the Firesweep was introduced.
DM gave us one Firedome model for 1956, and it was a beauty. The 2nd of a Limited Edition two-car set. The model was finished in Lavender Iridescent Metallic & Plum Iridescent Metallic. The 1st model in the set was a Fireflite Hardtop, it was in the same colors, reversed.

The DeSoto Fireflite was introduced in 1955, it was the top-tier DeSoto model, moving the Firedome down a space. For 1956, the Adventurer was a sub-series in the Fireflite lineup. By 1957, the Adventurer became the top-tier level, with the Fireflite just below the Adventurer, but was still considered the top-tier series.
DM offered three Fireflite models, four if you consider the Adventurer was a sub-series of the Fireflite in 1956. The model features here is my favorite, the Sunny Yellow & Jet Black combination is very distinctive and for me, just works perfectly.

I love the Lavender/Plum combo.
Two standouts from DM and both are parked on my shelves.

Fine pictures of these real '50's beauties from Danbury ! As Groucho said : "Drive a DeSoto ......then decide !"
Hard to believe that four years later DeSoto would be eliminated from the lineup. As always John, great pictures and commentary.
For me DeSoto's best years were '55 and '56. Such a shame they eliminated this marque.
