I always loved movie cars. I don't remember how many years I spent trying refine a cottage industry poorly cast '66 Batmobile resin body until, mercifully, Mattel paid the exorbitant licensing fees to Barris, DC Comics, Warner Brothers, et al, and relieved me of my misery. The "Vanishing Point" Challenger was another movie car that I desired and about 20 years ago, Revell released this diecast model kit. It's not completely accurate, nor are subsequent releases in 1/18, but, hey, it's the right year, right color and has the proper license plates. The engine, in this model is the obligatory 440 "Six Pack)  which is fine. In the movie, it was a 'mystery engine' purported to be supercharged, but it was never seen in this low budget movie where at the climax, the Challenger was replaced with, I think, a gutted Camaro. Anyway, I painted, weathered the undercarriage and bought some aftermarket decals and was happy. Revell did a few more movie cars that I built up a detailed, including the Bullitt 390 Mustang and the black Charger. Of course, later on, precision models were made of these icons, but I still kinda like these models.

Vanishing Point 25 003
Vanishing Point 25 022
Vanishing Point 25 004
Vanishing Point 25 006

Hey Rich, I've got a Philly Mint 1970 Challenger that looks similar to the model you have. I think this was made by DM for Philly. Is this the same Challenger like the on in Vanishing Point? There was nothing in the packaging that referenced the movie. I had two of these but auctioned one off on eBay a while back.

As I said, there really isn't a completely accurate model of the "Vanishing Point" Challenger. Basically, the key would be in the 1970 Colorado license plates.

John, I believe it was Greenlight who did Vinny's 1:24th Challenger and Corvette C4 models.

Rich and Tony,  First I believe Tony is correct on the Phillymint car.  Rich I have this model as well as the others you mentioned.  Revell did a nice job on supplying some really cool Diecast kits.

Actually, Vinny had Acme Trading Company supply a Limited Edition of 250 units of the Vanishing Point Dodge Challenger R/T in Alpine White for the Philly Mint. They are hard to find on the secondary market. I've seen one on EBAY in the last year. They do have the special PHL-MNT 1970 Colorado license plates.
