Well 1986 anyway. This Monte Carlo entry is the Ferrari GTO which was homologated at 272 units to compete in the Group B racing series. They were built from the 308 GTB after Enzo fought with Fiat who feared that Ferrari sales were slipping because their lineup had become too "gentrified". Known as the 288 GTO Type F114, it's V8 was debored down to 2.88 liters and boosted with twin turbos that produced 395 bhp. Enzo happily described the GTO as "cattiva" (angry) and was happy with its overall performance. Almost at the same time, the next step up was made to the car as the 288 GTO "Evoluzione" which with an aggressive aerodynamic body was a real supercar offering 650 hp from the same engine. A long tailed variant is shown below in 1/43.
The 288 GTO model is a 1/24 Bburago kit build with its diecast body painted blue. The rest is those wonderful Cartograph decals ( and a lot of paint detailing). The engine bay as well as the interior are really well done but I can't find the pictures.
This is the 288 Evoluzione long tail dressed for Le Mans:
FANTASTIC shots of one of my very favorite Ferrari's! Thanks Rich!
