Produced between 1936 until the war, the Horch 853 and 853A was the flagship of the Auto Union. About a thousand total of both variants were produced at their Zwickau factory in a variety of bodies. Converted to light military trucks using that chassis during the war, the facility was all but flattened before the war's end. The worst fate of all was that, under Soviet hegemony in East Germany, the Horch plant was relegated to producing the infamous Trabant. This 1937 853 was powered by a 4.5 liter SOHC I-8 that, in the 'A' variant produced 120hp.
A long time favourite, love the effects of sunlight on the pics Rich.
Wonderful model when CMC was still making 1/24 scale models.
A simply gorgeous vehicle. I wonder how many of the craftsman that built this car ended up after the war putting together Trabant. Thanks once again Rich.
