A VERY exciting day!
I took my Mom out today "car shopping" and while she's been mentioning the Chrysler 300C, she wanted to check out other makes. A fast trip to LIC where there are literally THOUSANDS of cars (both new and used), she wasn't all that impressed by anything, including Cadillac! Across the street we went to Chrysler, and within 5 minutes of looking over a new arrival, an '06 300C in Midnight Met blue, with the Light grey interior, sunroof, navigation etc.. she said the three magic words, "I'll take it" I had my mouth open for a minute because I thought once again she'd wait and shop around and deprive herself the joy of a new car, and then literally had afew tears of joy! Why??? Because my Moms one of the best ladys on this PLANET, and for years she's always put her familys needs ahead of her own. She helped put my brother through Prinction, my sister through NYU, and has been there for me when I needed her. She's now 66 and this will be her third car, but the VERY FIRST brand new car that shes bought! I am really so happy and excited that she's finally thought of herself for a change and went for it! WOOOO WHOOOOO can't wait to pick that beauty up with Mom next week!
Good for her! I hope she enjoys it in good health. ...
An, lets you drive it once in a while. 😉
That is sooo nice Phil......all the best to you and your Mom.
Hard to predict
When Mom was in the market for a new car. My first
thought was another Lincoln Town Barge, No, Than headed
to the Cadillac place, No, Finally she said want something
a little sportier, I want that new Thunderbird. It
is a fun car.
Good for Mom! 300C is a fine ride...reminds me of 1967..
my brother and I accompanied Mom to the local Chrysler Plymouth store in Stamford, CT. To our delight and amazement, she decided she wanted something "sportier" than her '65 Fury III wagon trade in. Before we knew it, she had placed an order for a Sport Fury "fast top", loaded to the gills with everything. When the salesman came to the engine selection part of the order blank, we held our breath. Mom looked at us, looked at the salesman, smiled sweetly, and said " I think my boys know more about that than I do". Yikes!..we quickly recovered from the shock, and told the sales guy that we thought the 440 ci, 375 hp "Super Commando" would fill the bill nicely. Bingo...it was so ordered. What a fabulous ride that baby turned out to be...what a fabulous Mom we are blessed with. Today, at 85, she is still motoring along nicely. Her latest ride indicates she is not slowing down a whole lot....a brand new 280 hp Lincoln LS! Enjoy it in good health Mom, and careful with that gas pedal!
Best of Luck. Enjoy!!

Thanks for all your nice comments/thoughts! : ) funny that you mentioned Lincoln as .....
Mom said the TC looked like a BIG TANK, and the Caddys she said looked like "Nothing" aside from the 2 seater drop topped that we BOTH loved, but thought it not practical. When the salesman said "Oh you want the V6 one right, you don't need such a powerful car? Mom replied, "Hon my 78 Lincoln I'm driving has a 460 four barrel with dual exhaust! I'm used to powerful cars, so I'd rather have the HEMI one!!!!" LMAO On that note the salesmans face drop two-fold. For one he was shocked that she was still driving a 1978 Mark V, second that she knew what size and CU IN engine it had, and a carburator as well! Hee hEee GO MOM!!! I guess kids sometimes rub off on parents too eh??? LOL
I can relate...
...my mom is as important to me as yours is to you. I
had a hand in picking most of her cars, the first being a
B5 Blue 70 Charger when I was in high school. In
1999, when the 83 Grand Marquis she bought new was
giving her chronic problems, I called the Ford dealer in
her town, got all the info on a lease on a new Grand
Marquis, then called my rich brother and asked if he
could help with payments. All she had to do was go
pick a color--champagne gold. Six years later, she still
raves about her car, and that is worth everything, just
like she is.
Aww thats a nice story! I wish I could have .........
Bought it for her, but there's no way I could have even paid the Taxes on it! LOL I just bought a house 6 months ago (my FIRST) and I am tapped out! Mom actually decided to pay cash for the car! The salesmans mouth once again DROPPED when she said, "Oh the hell with a loan I hate owing money to anyone!" after they went through the different payment options. LOL Moms quite a character, and in great health for 66! No pills of any kind aside for Calcium and an occasional asprin! GOD Bless Mom 😉
Mom's driven the vette
Her car had to have a V8, No 4 or 6 for her. May
have some grey hair but the right foot works just
fine LOL
Phil, what's mom doing withe the Mark V? Giving it to you, perhaps?
Good for her. My mom's 81 and, still gets around like she's 50.
She bought a 98 or 99 Buick Riviera a couple of years ago, and, LOVES that car.
Awwwwwwwwwwww................!
Thats's such a nice story, Philly! Isn't it nice when we can appreciate the joy of one who has given so much to others?
Mom
My mother passed away this February at 91. Her favorite car was always my Z3. In her eighties, she did 5 trips from Vermont to Spartanburg, SC to attend Z3 Homecomings. In fact, she even sold one couple on the Z3 -- they called when I was at work and she told them that it was such a great car that they bought one based on her input. At the first Homecoming in 1997, the head of BMW Communications presented her with a 1:18 Z3 model for being the "oldest enthusiast" at the meet. She treasured it, and I respected it has hers.
When she passed away, I inherited a sum that made the Z8 purchase possible. I am not sure it was a coincidence, but the day I pickd it up, I also picked up mom's remains, so she had the first ride in the car she made possible for me to own.
I hope your mother enjoys every minute of her new car! At 66 she should have menay years of fun with it and its successors. Give her a big hug for me.
