Boyd Cottington (1944-1997) took most of Chip Foosse's design study starting with a 1948 Cadillac. A new steel chassis with a Corvette C-4 suspension, and a 502 cid Chevy big block linked to a TH400 automatic. New fenders were welded to the frame with headlamps and taillamps frenched in. A full custom interior with custom gauges and a full length console (with 4 cup holders !!!) enclosed in a removeable Carson top. This Franklin Mint model was released before Chip Foose acquired the car and redid it to his original plans. I'm included pics of the car as it exists today which sold for $892,500. It now has a full leather interior, new grill, engine compartment, badges and scripts and now has both "Foose" and "Boyd" attributions.
Here it is after the Foose transformation:
Forgot about the Eldorod. Forgot, too, that it was done by Franklin Mint. Not to be confused with Shaquille O'Neal's "Shaqillac"
me too, why oh why I wonder? This post Rich takes me back to the days when your pics would send me straight to ebay to try and find one!Forgot about the Eldorod. Forgot, too, that it was done by Franklin Mint. Not to be confused with Shaquille O'Neal's "Shaqillac"
@perrone1 Never cared for this model and I still feel the same today but I do like the writeup about it. Boyd Cottington always seemed to be mad at someone.

I was hoping for a stock version in1/24.
I'll never forget or forgive...when Cottington destroyed a perfect Model T coupe to turn it into a Hot Rod.

Rich, thanks for the beautiful photos. I like this car as I always love to watch a craftsman take something and redesign into something cool.
Maybe someday I'll pick one of these up. It'd look great next to my Cadzilla. I'd love a model of the Foose redesign. Great read, pics and model Rich.💯
