Looking like an Eldorado for the upper middle class, this top of the line 1954 Buick Skylark share a similar rounded rear end with spikes tail fins that for Buick serves as the tail light assemblies that Cadillac would copy the following year. Add the exaggerated side spear over elongated wheel wells with contrasting paint colors and you have a unique design identifiable from a mile away. An avian inspired chrome badge with painted accents on the rear quarter panel identifies the car as a Skylark. The car is powered by a standard 200 HP 322 cid "Fireball" V8 and Buick seemed very proud to also offer power steering as standard as it's branded on the steering wheel hub as well as on the knock off hubs of the Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels. Priced at $4483.00, it was cheaper than the $5738 Biarritz that year, but with only 836 Skylarks sold, the Biarritz outsold it with 2150 units made.
