Cadillac's Apex Land Yacht.... [PIC]

In the mid 1950s, the pink spectrum of colors was all the rage, especially in men's fashions. The adage that "real men don't wear pink' was shattered. I remember how proud I was when my mom bought me my first pink shirt with the almost obligatory charcoal accents. This combination even saw its way into bathroom tile schemes. My next fashion statement at the tender age of 11 (1957) was a salmon covered knit top in the new miracle fiber of "Banlon". (You gotta be real old to remember that one). Well, this 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz comes in the very period Dusty Rose with, again, charcoal and white accents for the interior. This fully loaded convertible, at an MSRP of $7286, cost about 1.6 times the average worker's wages in 1957 so for all the 10%ers, just 1800 were sold that year. The Eldorado came standard with a 2X4 bbl 365 cid V8 that produced a whopping 325 HP mated to a 4 speed automatic transmission. Easily identifiable by its rounded rear and sharp tail fins with gold anodized badging and scripts, it features a fiberglass "parade boot" to cover the folded top. The interior sported all leather upholstery including the dash, power-assisted everything and Cadillac's patented "Wonderbar" radio. Danbury Mint did a really nice job replicating this luxurious land yacht.
