John, that is a really nice model.  Wish I had this one.  By the way when did you first collecting models?  You have a lot that I have not seen.

I have that model in the LE gold. It's an outstanding model just like their 240 Fairlady.

I have been collecting model cars in one scale or another for more than 50 years. I still collect 3 main scales, but I will pick something else if I find it interesting.

My 1:24 scale collection started in the late in 1989 and I still add a couple every once in awhile. My 1:18 collection started about the same time and while it is much smaller in quantity, grows very slowly. The size keeps me from adding them often. My main focus is 1:43 these days and I started those a bit earlier, but I stopped collecting this scale during those years I was concentrating on 1:24. Since 1:24 kind of dried up, I started again.

I have always found pleasure in these little scale gems. I've never really focused on a specific genre or type, I basically collect what interests me.

John, your last sentence in your post above, "I basically collect what interests me", I think in fairness could be said by all of who collect whatever scales and cars we've added to our collections.  It certainly wouldn't seem rational that any of us would buy cars that interested someone else.  Smile

I continue to enjoy your "Daily Dose of Diecast" offerings each day and thank you for taking the time to do it.  It's a lot of effort to put together daily offerings, so just know that you are appreciated.

@jcarnutz John, thanks for getting back to me.  I started with 1:18 back in the early 90's, then I saw the FM ad in the Parade magazine and that was the end of the 1:18 scale.  I sold all my 1:18 cars to a Hobby Store in Ohio and then concentrated on the 1:24's.  Now with almost 1000 cars, plus 250 plastic kits either built or waiting get built I have no room to add anything further.  The 1:43 scale are really starting to look interesting with some great features and their likeness to the 1:1 is I think sometimes better than the larger scales.  We'll see where I go from here.

I never picked up this 1/24 scale model but I do have the 2000GT in 1/18 scale.

Great model and pics John, although I don't have it.  I worked next door to Toyota before they moved to Plano Texas a few years ago, and was fortunate to receive an invitation to their museum.  They had three of these rare cars, two were left hand drive and one was right hand drive.

John, you probably know this, but since I don't see it on the pictures I would mention it. There is a little lever on the chassis, in front of the front left tire (visible on the 3rd photo); if pulled the concealed headlights pop up.

I have all colors of the first edition: red, white, gold and silver. The second edition was released in white, red, silver and black. I was disappointed with the second edition choices of silver (the first edition silver was limited edition, reissuing the color makes absolutely no sense) and black (doesn't fit well this car and there are much more iconic colors).

Thanks Chav, yes I knew that, but I'd forgotten it when I took the photos. As soon as I read your post, I remembered. I bought this model a few years ago.

Checked it out and repacked it. Until just recently it has been in the box. I added a couple additional shots of the open headlights I took today. Wink

The model is quite sophisticated. Thanks for the extra pictures. I just remember that there is another feature, the chassis is removable and could be displayed separately, it is attached to the body with 4 screws. The care instructions show the removable rolling chassis.
