Danbury Mint 1936 Packard Phaeton
Does anyone else here dislike the color? I love the model as it's very well done. All the articulating panels and working features are amazing and the scaling of parts are nicely done too. My only complaint is the paint job/color. Its so dark that its almost black and to boot the paint job on all the ones I've seen stinks! They look swirly and arent nicely buffed out. A lot of streaks and marks in the paint and the color is DRAB IMO. I nice medium Metallic blue would have look far nicer! Anyone else feel this way? The model dosn't pop in this color and looks cheap for some reason

Did you get one of the later releases, Phil?
I have the first round with the thinner whitewalls and the finsh is beautiful. Do you think they had to change vendors and that's why there's such a difference?

I like the colors on the Automodello Packards... especially the cream.

In the right light or with a camera flash, it exhibits quite a bit...
...of the blue pigment that made that car color so classic.

It IS a little difficult to photograph, and DOES show every speck of dust.

I have one of the recent models. I like the color and the paint on mine is well done - no issues.

Packard blue is dark, almost black and it’s classic.

I've always guessed they reasoned it would be too fragile and prone to breaking.

They put the ornaments on the 32 Cadillac its a shame they left it off of the Packard.

I agree. FM put them on their Packard models.
