Thats my point it might as well be black! As for the paint. I recently got the corrected one and its going back due to a few small missing parts and less then pleasant paint job. I am keeping the ORIGINAL one I got, but the paint on that wasn't well polished either and had a lot of swirl marks and fine scratches in the paint. I polished the heck out of it when I got it so it looks ok now. I was going to keep the second one for speculation purposes but will pass! This model would have benefitted from being done in that beatiful creme color IMO

Phil, I agree DM could have generated a huge demand with a repaint in the creme color. My complaint is with the sloppy quality control I've seen in the corrected white wall version. They must have used a different factory with less skilled workers, because all four of the examples I've seen have serious flaws in paint and/or assembly.

To honestly answer that question...

the hood ornament was not on the car when it was photographed. The owner removes it when the car is not shown and places the standard cap in its place. Says that it rips his car cover. No one there thought to ask about it and I guess the owner did not mention that he had the Cormorant cap. The color, "Packard Blue" is very dark...in fact we lightened it a bit on the replica because it looked too black. We thought the blue leather was pretty cool, though, and since the car has some provenance, (originally owned by Chicago Tribune owner Robert McCormick), we wanted to keep the model true to the original, (including what we thought was the original radiator cap). If it if any consequence, the follow-up LE to this car was to be Packard Cream. I'm surprised that a sample of that one has not shown up on e-Bay yet since it was in development when the factory closed.

If DM makes an LE creme colored version I will add it to my collection as well and keep the DARK blue one. Nothing not to love about Packards!
