Do you have a model that, since the first day you got it, many moons ago, has just kept your interest " for god knows why "???
I have a few in this category..you see them for sale for next to nothing, but yours is stuck with you times years, and, will be, into the future.
Believe it or not, one such model is, I think the first DM I bought. It is the '55 Ford Fairlane, with the transparent roof...black/white two tone. I think it was just the detail that it had impressed me, compared to other models I used to have, or, see. It was a pretty big investment for a model, too, but, I never regretted it, once I got the model. The '58 Impala turquoise convertible did the same thing, when delivered, many years ago. The most recent new buys that awed me, were the '60 Impapa LE's from DM, and, that's at least a year gone by. I guess I'm too easily " bought "!! I'm sure there were " better " models, but these guys did it for me, and, I'm glad they still do. Makes the initial output seem worthwhile.
P.S., just yesterday, my 24 yr. old daughter, when asked what diecast she liked as a favorite, picked the '55 Ford, and, I'm a Chevy guy...go figure!!
Mine is my first.... DM Blue 57 Bel Air CV with opening trunk......
followed by the white DM 53 Vet.........
DM's 57 Mercury TPC, FM's D4C 30 Cadillac and DM's 49 Ford CV.
My favorite "off the wall" model...
As a general rule, I'm nuts for '50s cars; but the '58s from FoMoCo (except for the T-Bird) don't ring any bells for me. When the FM black and red '58 Edsel Citation Convertible was announced as a 1000-off limited edition, I sprang for one, but only as an investment...
A year and a half later, it's worth less than I paid for it, but that's OK - I've become very attracted to this low-tech repaint. The colors help a lot, of course, and also hide any excessive door gaps (of which there doesn't seem to be any). But the thing just looks beautiful from any angle, and the detailing is exceptional considering its early '90s origins. What's more, I've become appreciative of Edsel styling for the first time in my life...
Funny, the power of these little cars!
DM 1938 GMC Budweiser Stake...
Ten years since first acquiring it and it's still the favorite piece in my 150+ collection.
My very first...The DM '53 Corvette, to this day is my favorite
I got that one from Patty, Jerry..don't tell her you like it!!
Funny how " firsts " are remembered!! The good, bad, and, ugly!!
Sounds a bit like the definition of a " first marriage ", whether it lasted or not!!!>:):DLOL
By the way, the '53 'Vette..just arranged to buy one, and, it seems to be a beauty.
the old white Auburn Boat-Tailed Speedster.
Why not pose an easier question, like...........
which of your kids do you love most, or which of your ex's do you hate the most...or maybe better, which of them hates you the most? Oh well, I wax philosophic!
Just went into my office where 67 of my little joys sit. I am partial to pick-ups and the 31 Ford Custom P/U, the 38 Ford half ton P/U, and the 37 Studebaker P/U all seem to grab my eyes when I look. However, for sheer "This is what DieCast is all about....the Ertl 1913 Ford Speedster is the Cat's Pajamas.
Don, I'll re-phrase the question for you. " Which, kinda' surprisingly, to you, has kept your attention most ", for some unknown reason of attraction? I'm sure that's easier, and clears it up, by at least 10%,or so!!!:o)
The FM 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 L.E. DADS CAT Reminds me of great times
I was 3 years old when it came out, but as a teen lover of muscle cars I drove 2 Mustangs. A 1970 Mustang Grande Coupe with tan saddle vinyl top automatic Lime Green. Sold it to buy a perfect 1970 Mach 1 429 CJ and 4 on the floor Black with white interior, just like the Dad's cats diecast. I had many Cobras II and Mustangs GTs, but the one that always be in my heart is the 1970 Mustangs.

The DM 60 Impala conv. I never get tired of it. The detail level and perfect proportions.
It looks like a real car.
I have several that I still love as much as the day I bought them! My VERY first 1:24th was ...
TFM 1933 Duessy 20 Grand! I remember that it was my lil treasure for years to come and I kept if on my nightstand in my bedroom under a FM display case from around 1988-2000 when by that point I discovered the internet, Ebay and D4C. Rest is History. Other cars that I love everytime I look at them are the 57 FM Black Caddy, '40 Duesenberg TC, 55 Silver CLoud, White PB Lincoln, CMC horches, most all my DM models etc. But ingeneral, I love my 33 Duesenberg as much as when I bought it, and its still to this day dust free and BETTER then new! WHy better? Because this model suffered from loose, wobbly doors since day one. About 4 years ago I took it apart and tightened all the doors so that they stayed shut and didnt wiggle when you opened them. I also gave the model about 4-5 light coats of a liquid polish which brought out the shine and sparkle of the paint. It now looks like it's clear coated, BETTER then new
