I’m not exactly a newcomer to Danbury Mint models, but in my four or so years I can’t remember seeing one of these 1957 Chevy Stepsides in my searches. If I would have I would have surely noticed cause it’s very, very cool IMHO. Doe’s anyone know much about it? When I searched so far I found that it’s a 50th Anniversary Limited Edition, I snatched it up quick about 15 minutes ago.

Stepside Pickup- Nbr Ltd Ed of 5000

Onyx Black

@perrone1 Thanks Tony, unfortunately I had to cancel the order. When I went back to look at the photos I noticed that the windshield was fogged like it had been super glued. I didn’t study the photos prior to hitting the buy it now as it was stated as new and I didn’t want to miss out on it. I don’t think there’s any way to fix the fogging.

Sorry that happened. I'm sure there is a way to fix it but I do not know what it would be.

I looked up several articles and people don’t seem to have good luck with fixing this. I kind of wish I wasn’t so picky, I can’t seem to accept any flaws with my models, I can’t stop seeing them and obsessing about them. Some minor things can be easily patched up or re-glued but every time I would have looked at this pickup I would want to turn on the defroster. One funny thing is, when I looked up his re-list after cancelling mine he points out the flaw and raised the price $30.00.

@kevins WOW; think you're better off without this one. Keep looking!  Cool

@kevins totally agree Kevin, there is no way I would accept that on my shelf. I have had varying degrees of success removing excess glue from windscreens on kit models with toothpaste (yes toothpaste!).

Definitely an interesting model though, and a great color. Strange how I've never seen it before when its an edition of 5000. Guess they didn't sell them all. Thanks for the info Tony.

Looks like a bent antenna too. Easily fixed there. I'd probably just replace the windshield. I do remember when it was released,  I got a flyer for it. 😊
