This 1929 Bentley 4.5 litre supercharged SOHC straight 4 powered 4 seat roadster was one of 55 produced between 1929 and 1932. The first 'Bentley Blower" won the Le Mans 24 hours the prior year. The engine replaced the 3 liter 4 by removing 2 cylinders from their 6.5 liter 6. The Bentley Blower became an icon over the year as the quintessential British melding of luxury with muscle. W.O. Bentley was dead set against offering a supercharge option stating that "to supercharge a Bentley is to pervert its design and corrupt its performance. Fortunately for automotive history, Bentley had already lost control of the company to major shareholder Woolf Bernato.
I just adore the Franklin Mint model with its detail and relatively high parts count for its era although it does suffer a bit from poor door fit lack of solid action from its hinges.
Not my cup of tea, but they are great photos.
When FM first brought out this model, I jumped right on it and am glad I did. An oldie but definitely a goodie
