Barry that’s true about eliminating or lower one tax another will increase. Just the way it is
BINGO Phil, you and I are in agreement. It's taxes that keep us all down. And for those that have figured out how to beat the system and live free, it's all of us who work that take care of them. Everyone can have a time in their lives when they may need some assistance, but the vast majority of people who live off the system through welfare and other government freebies are on for life. And sadly they teach their children to do the same thing.
The whole system is wrong! I also agree with you about our roads. The roads are in horrific shape everywhere I drive. Bottom line is there is so much wrong with the way the country is, that it can never be fixed. Although, the politicians and government would have us believe the answer to fixing it, is RAISING TAXES or CREATING NEW TAXES.
The result is only the politicians and government are rich.

If you can find it I might suggest a book..."The Nightmare of Camelot"...
While it is an expose on the issue of free trade it delves deeply into the issue of taxes. For instance he points out that there are 128 different taxes on a loaf of bread! It is an interesting read to say the least!

Taxes are like the ingredients labels on foods. No one knows what they hell any of it is.

George...in the book he points out that the citizens keep about 1.5 CENTS of every dollar we earn.
The rest goes for taxes to all of the various entities. For example on the dollar you earn you pay your gardener 55 cents of the dollar you keep ... the he pays someone for a service 55 cents of the amount you paid him ... the next one pays 55 cents to someone....this goes on and on...
