Getting back to our li'l cars, Anybody receive the brochure from DM yet on the 58 T-bird?
If so, can you scan, and, post some pics? If you cant, what are your impressions of the car? I can't wait for this one.
Nope. Nor have I received any flyers for the gold Firebird, the yellow '55 T'Bird, or any others under discussion here recently.
I used to get a lot of mail from DM, but that has not been the case lately. Anyone else notice the same thing? The last mailer I got from DM was for the two-tone blue Mercury convertible, and that was quite a while ago.
Wonder why DM has cut back on its mail-outs....
Rick
DM mailings do seem to be sporadic, but in your case, Rick, (and mine) they probably feel we are established customers and don't need promos to keep us as buying customers. I really do appreciate the brochures though.
No but ....
I did get a flyer offering a princely $7 off the Roadmaster I already painted the valve stems on.
You're probably right, Roger, but I know that I used to get mailings from them every week. I'd keep the flyers in the file folder with the other paperwork.
It just seems like the number of flyers is nowhere what it used to be, and, like you, I like to get them. They provide a lot of help in determining whether or not I want to order the car, since I am one of those picky guys who won't order a car unless it's accurate.
No, I did receive the 69 Formula 400, and some useless crap for a jeweled pendant and the Budweiser Wagon diecast though. Apparently DM still thinks I want to buy jewelry when I have never ever bought jewelry. DM- I BUY DIECAST CARS-SEND ME FLYERS ON NEW RELEASES, NOT OLD RELEASES OF STUFF I ALREADY HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually they probably don't send out many flyers to us D4C members because we are already ordering our lil cars way before their cs's even have the info in the system. We get our info early here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would DM send people on this board any advertisements?
We learn about their new products and place orders before it's put into their system. Almost every time I call, their customer service rep. hasn't heard of the item yet.
Chuck, I know what you and Jim are saying, but I can't believe for a minute that DM is sophisticated enough to scrub their mailing list (from people who have bought even one model or other product) against the relatively few names they find on this forum. We can only be a drop in the bucket when compared to the number of names they have available to them by purchasing mailing lists from magazines and the many others who sell their lists.
Even if they did, the number they came up with from reading this board would not justify comparing it to their master mailing list.
So, my question stands...why isn't DM mailing out as many flyers, brochures, etc., as they used to? I usually received two or three each week, including models which had been available for a long time and some of which I had even bought directly from DM. They didn't even scrub their mailing list against the item's purchasers.
I also observed the same..................
less flyers and no new issues at all. I believe it has nothing to do with the quantity of our purchases. I received the Batmobile for the first time last week and in the last two months I received three 55 Corvette.
I also get the cream and also the crud in mailings. Do as I do..........
Keep what you want and toss the rest.
Rick--It may have to do if you are in various series with Danbury. The way they explained it to me is that if you are in the 40's series or 50's series because you bought one car from that group, they automatically enroll you in the series, which means you get another of that set at a later time. That being said, they don't submit sales brochures to existing series members, such the case for me because I'm in a bunch of their series. I had to call the rep and specifically give her the car and year and ask that they send a brochure for it. they will be more than happy to cooperate.
Rick, I agree. I don't think DM would have any reason to exclude proven buyers of their products.
The majority of postings on this board concering DM products are overwhemingly favorable.
I just dropped an e-mail to their CS department, requesting a color brochure on the '58 Thunderbird when it's available.
Sure am taken with that "Squarebird."

Fewer brochures for me too...
I hadn't received a DM mailing since Fall 2003 so I went to the top. Peter Maglathlin...he emailed that it was taken care of. They had mistakenly blocked my account for mailings. The same happened with their PCS Division. Hopefully now I will get tons of brochures from both Danbury Mint and Postal Commemorative Society. The last DM thing I got was a Jewelry Catalog a couple weeks ago.
Pls DM just scan all your brochures & put them on your website
I really wish DM would do a HiQuality scan of all their current brochures & add them to their website. Then allow us to sign up to stop getting any hard copies and/or start getting eMail notifications of new brochures & pending "end of production" notifications. It would be a great job for an office intern or send me the every brochure & I'll scan them for DM ๐
It would save trees & probably save DM $
