RE: FM 1968 DCCC Green Mustang...
I looked over the advertising for this piece carefully. From what I can tell the ad states that it is limited to 9,900 and no more will be made after 12/31/04. So as far as I can tell they can still legally sell leftovers after that date...just not make anymore and not sell above 9,900.
Good point ...I never read it like that thanks Mike!
Puzzlement over the DCCC Mustang
I saw with interest the post regarding the 40% off sale on this model, which I had meant to get but had not gotten around to. Sooooo I called one of our favorite retailers to see if they would match the FM deal and the answer was no, they cannot as 40% off is below cost. OK - that's reasonable. So, armed with my black Corvette #0269, bought at a local California retailer, who assured me at the time that the Club membership was the same whether I bought from him or from FM directly, I called FM. Now things get interesting.
It seems that, technically, who was a member of DCCC via my Corvette was the store, not me! And, since I am not a member from FM's view, they will not sell me the Mustang.
So it would appear that, seen from my view as a customer, we have created the perfect storm. FM won't sell me the car because I bought the Vette from a retailer, and the retailer won't sell me the car because the FM deal is below cost. So the only way to get the model I am (from my view) totally entitled to is to pay retail for it when I know very well it can be had for 40% off.
Please understand that I am more amused than upset, but I would be curious to know what the tribal wisdom is. What should I do? I actually do like the car and would like to have it, but I would feel a total sap paying retail for it at this point. Suggestions welcome, but please no slams on FM. I am sure it is goofy situations like this that convinced them to discontinue the club.

Cheers!
Have the member (the store) buy you one and buy it from them.
see if someones willing to get it for you for 40%
Whomever qualifies that is OR buy it from E-Bay or here. There are several sellers here that offer great deals on these new models and are honest to deal with. I just got the LECC Mustang about a week ago and like it far more then I thought I would. The color is much nicer in person, and an overall pleasing model. The continued lack of vent pane "glass" really irks me, but once I get passed that the model looks good and has the right look to it.
Philip, Here's something that irks me even more then not having vent glass....
BTW, it's good to have you back on the board! I recently
bought the DM '68 Road Runner. I had been holding off
on this car for some reason but finally decided to get it.
When it came and I was looking it over, I realized that
the one I got was virtually perfect. Very unusual for a DM
model in my experience. As I'm ready to put it on display
I just touched the vent window and it fell off!
Try Try Again.
As I posted below (11402.3.1.1.1.3)
I have a co-worked who orderd the car himself for himself.
His first ever FM purchase. FM sold him the 68 Mustang at the discouinted price.
When I called I asked, "I see that there is a flyer advertising the car at 40%. If you will sell it to me at that price I will but it." They sold it and I bought it.
I didn't mention clubs or anything.
I would try again.
Good Luck ๐
Ordered one at 40% off directly from FM on Wednesday; FM confirmed that it shipped Friday.
