Hollis, if the sell at the increased prices they ARE worth the price - to someone.

Hollis, I don't really think it is that strange. Collectors who missed out on certain cars have no other way to get the ones they want, and even if they are slightly imperfect, when that is all they can get, the price is a little higher.

Bottom line is, everything is only worth what someone is willing to sell it for, and someone else is willing to buy it for. End result, both parties are happy!

As a collector, I'm glad to see prices either holding or rising. That means our hobby isn't dead, and who know's maybe someone will once again see the advantage of producing 1:24 scale again.

Here is one bargain ...

Prices of this model have dropped from $700 to less than $350 over the last 4 years, I think $500 is a fair price, no one makes models like this anymore. Only 450 metal ones were made.

I'm struggling just to be able to afford to fill the holes in my collection

I have seen higher prices on here and eBay ....

But at least ... today ... there are the really hard to find being put out there ....

I'm finally able to start adding those one of 500 offerings in the Corvette arena

This is just a hobby

HEY ... I could own a 32 motor yacht that I have to keep in the slip down in the marina .....

Now owning a boat .... that is a money hole there

There were on 2 very happy days back in my boat owning days

Day # 1 ... Was the day I bought the boat

Day # 2 ... Was the day I sold the boat

I've been selling less than perfect models and many have done well

Dennis, flipping diecast is different thing, I am takling about "consolidating" ...

-don't buy at high prices
-there will be always another opportunity (except maybe for rarities like 1 of few)
-sell the stuff that are common and/or you don't love
-sell the stuff that bring unreasonable amount of money and you can part with
-save the cash for later, pay your bills etc.
-not suggesting trying to make money from diecast (it's not easy because there are too many people who are doing the same), I am suggesting getting more value for your money
-owning diecast is a money hole too, I guess as owning a boat, but you have more happy days in between day one and day last.
