have another question on the Franklin Mint 1998 Corvette LECC Aztec gold just recently purchased one and I've noticed that the paint is really flaky a rough. No chips or damages and looks like a manufacture issue. I was just wondering if they kinda came like this back in 1999 or did I just get a bad replica?
I am not the original owner of mine, but its paint is smooth.
Gerry, I have one that I bought at the time of release. Frankly, the gold paint is not very glossy. Mine is smooth with no signs of flaking or roughness. Just not a shiny paint job (like some of the other D4C issues). Still looks good, though.
Gerry, I bought mine in 2008 and my comment woul be the same as Rick's. It is not very glossy but is smooth and shows no signs of flaking or roughness.

Mine is same as Rick & Joe's
Same here....
Gerry, is it the dreaded diecast rot? Hope not.
I'm not sure Patty
I would not think so. Its no biggie nothing a little car wax.wont fix. I have been using the GMP meguiars kit for all my diecast and I love it works very well on my models.
Just looked at mine a few days ago while refilling my curios. I agree with the others. The paint is smooth, but not glossy.
