Hudson Hornet Gearshift issue (pic)...
I don't have my D4C model yet (they must've been dispatched from the east) but understand that the gearshift lever is on the wrong (left) side of the steering column. Same for the cream and brown LE version...
I recently raised the front ride height on my original green Hornet, and took photos in the process. I haven't posted a "how-to" yet, because I wanted first to see how TFM effected this change with the production models. My job involved taking the car apart. To do so, the chrome piece on the steering column, that the lever is an integral part of, had to be detached from under the dashboard. Here's a photo of the said piece after the body and dashboard were lifted off...
My guess as to what happened with the D4C and LE models is that the steering column piece was fitted upside-down! If this is the case, the fix would be to tap the piece free from the dashboard - using a chisel-tip screwdriver of appropriate length with very small tip, and a small hammer - then simply flipping the piece over and re-cementing. No dis-assembly would be required...
Hopefully, I am correct in my theory.
John - Thanks for the info...Keep us posted after you get your Hornet.
