I will be banished from the Bulletin Board forever
Sorry guys, but I have just purchased an American Excellence 1/43 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V, black with a white v/top and IMHO it beautiful. Paint, detail and proportions are right on but interior and finer script details are not up to 1/24 standard.
Yeah I know its resin and does not have the working features or the engine and interior details of our beloved 1/24th but its almost half price.
I even think Doug Ford would be happy with this model because it is probably as close to his full size car, that will be offered in the short term.
There are some very nice offerings current and future that you should look at and maybe consider. I know I am looking at the 65 Bonneville, 72 Grand Prix and the 67 Eldorado just to name a few. And it looks like a 59 Dodge is in the works to be offered in our lifetime!!
Again I don't want to be disloyal but the 1/24 scale is drying up and I have a habit to support.
Mark
Mark, I certainly understand! 1:43 has some great, great models.
My only problem with them is that I can't afford to start another habit. Consequently, for the sake of my wallet I'm staying away.
Ahhhhh Marlowe you are going to miss out on many exquisite models.
I've got a few AE and they are well worth the change of scale
(PICS) Here are a few examples of AE (NEO) models of American cars
There are a bunch of them and I've spent my money on many, but here are just a few examples........remember these are only 1/43 but the details are such that in pictures, you'd think you were looking at 1/24 models. They come in a display case and don't take up a lot of room. I really enjoy them and, for me, they've taken up the slack left in the 1/24 category.
Having owned a virtually identical Mk V.....[PIC] (the vinyl half roof on mine was Dove Gray)
It's a phenomenal little model that really captures the look.

WOW! Those are beautiful!
Mark, you are not alone and as time goes by, we will have lots more company.
Mark, have you seen their '48 Cadillac Sedanette in Black or dark green?
Wow, the Mercury & Cadillac are two I've been hoping for in 1/24th.
Who sells these and what is the price range?
I need to see their list of offerings.
USAF 1958-62
Dan, go to http://www.american-excellence.com or go to....
Ebay and look up 1/43 neo. They make a miriad of vehicles....both European and American.
I believe that the American Excellence sales office is in Florida but I don't recall where. They may be close to you.
They generally sell in the neighborhood of $60 to $80.
Several of these are listed under 1:43 on the Legacy Auctions right now.
Thanks Clifford, I am impressed with their clean lines, proportions and fits.

1/43 and the rest
Not to worry,I've been collecting all the scales for years. True, the little ones, at least from AE are not diecast but AE and others like Brooklin are producing models we will probably never see in the ever decreasing model lines of the surviving larger scale companies.
No doubt! These models are just fabulous!
