Loving the Danbury Mint BLUE '53 Buick Skylark as I do, imagine my excitement when I opened my mailbox back in the day and DM was announcing this spectacular MAROON repaint.  Not a second after seeing this brochure was wasted on my getting to the phone to order it.  Though I do like the original color release better, this repaint is nothing sort of incredible.

I knew my diecast addiction was out of control with these impulsive orders to DM for their latest models, and I happily wanted the addiction to get worse.  Since the demise of these little cars being produced, I've come to realize the feeling of withdrawal.  It's awful!  But every day I view my cars and brochures and feed on the rush they provide.

One of my all time favorite 1/1 cars...as a result I have models of this car in all scales including the four in this scale.

@bob-jackman, I'm thinking that to view your impressive model collection in person would be the equivalent of entering Heaven.

Excitement

Bob, after the pandemic and things get back to "normal" you may need to hire a full time tour guide.

LOL, that is a great idea!  We all plan a trip to end at Mr. Jackman's home.  Surely it would be a true Dream Vacation for probably most of us.  Smile

John and George, Lori and I would love to have you , and everyone else on the board, come to visit. Spouses are welcome also and I think they would be well entertained looking at Lori's miniature dioramas. A big part of our hobbies is sharing them with others.

You are very kind to extend the invitation Mr. Jackman.  Certainly something to look forward to and consider once the pandemic is under control and travel becomes enjoyable again.

I'm forgetting at the moment, what state are you in again?  I remember watching the TV special that was done featuring your collection.  When my old computer crashed I lost the link to the video.

What a wonderful gesture Bob. As I'm getting older I'm becoming more desperate to see the U.S, (remembering I'm in Australia). Viewing your amazing collection would be a real tour highlight. Lets hope this terrible pandemic ends soon and we can travel something like we used to.

We are located in Brandon, Mississippi which is a suburb of the state capital of Jackson. We would be  honored to have all visitors especially from your wonderful country of Australia. As a bonus i also have some 1/1 scale collector cars which we can exercise during a visit Let's hope this pandemic gets under control so that we all may get back to some degree of normalcy.

Thanks Pete.  As I said above all are welcome. We have conducted many tours through our home to various car clubs and we enjoy doing that a lot. It would be especially enjoyable sharing the model cars to fellow collectors as you all can appreciate our passion for the little cars.

@pete-rovero, THANK YOU Pete!  And I've heard it said that Mr. Jackman's collection is now over 6,000 cars.  I just watched the video again and my jaws were dropping.

LOL, over the years we've had discussions on the Forum's of what constitutes a small, medium, and large collection of cars, I think it's safe to say that Bob's collection is LARGE!

I'm reminded of one of these discussions awhile back in this group when a member said he had a LARGE collection of TWELVE CARS.  And another member responded that, that is NOT a large collection...unless, it's KIDS.

I still chuckle at that!

Smile

Bottom line is, all of us love this hobby and that makes us all family.  I sincerely hope Lorraine and I are able to take Bob up on his offer to visit sometime in the near future.  I've always said that "A person with a hobby, is a happy person", and Bob's wife Lori said similar to that in the video.  Hobbies give us a reason to enjoy each day regardless what is going on around us.
