Could I have mine in DOVE GRAY please?
I always liked re-paints. When I received a brochure in the mail of a model in a certain color, I didn't grumble that it wasn't in the color I wanted it to be. And I never passed on buying a model, thinking I'd wait to see if they would produce one in "MY" favorite color. If I liked the model and the car it represented, I was on the phone ordering it.
When this brochure arrived from DANBURY MINT for their 1948 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY CONVERTIBLE in DOVER GRAY, it was a re-paint of their original REGAL MAROON release. I like the Maroon better, but I also love the Gray. On my shelf, they compliment each other nicely.
These Town & Country's are among my favorite models and I'd have purchased as many re-paints of them that Danbury would have given us. I wish there had been more.
Forthcoming in "I'VE GOT MAIL!" I will be featuring the '48 Town & Country's that Franklin Mint provided for us too. STAY TUNED as they say on TV.

Nice write up George. I never saw a color that looked bad on a T&C.
I ordered this one from DM and it arrived with a bumper broken in two pieces (looked like someone else's return). Sent it back (no replacement requested) and wish I had gotten a good one as I like it very much. I do have the DM maroon and FM green ones so T&Cs are well represented in my 1/24 collection.

It always bothered me that the mints might actually send out "returned and damaged cars" to other buyers. I've heard more than once it was done. Personally, I think it was tacky if indeed it was done.

An outstanding color, I wasted no time ordering this one as soon as it was announced.
