It's no secret to most here on the Forum that I'm a diehard Oldsmobile lover. So you can probably imagine the "I need air" moment I needed when this brochure from DANBURY MINT was taken from my mailbox.
Aside from being an OLDSMOBILE, there were many other things that immediately got my attention as I drooled over the brochure. It wasn't the usual hardtop or convertible for starters. It was a 2-door post coupe, and they were certainly not as common in Diecast replica's of the day. Next the color, for sure a period correct paint job that most of us who grew up in the 1950's remember from the late '40's and early '50's cars. Danbury Mint listed it as "IVY GREEN" and though I'm not usually a fan of Green on cars (or in general for that matter), I like it on this OLDSMOBILE!
And look at those smaller Hubcaps accented brilliantly with Yellow rims. How can this not be a knockout! My order was placed to Danbury Mint, and with the usual anticipation, but in this case probably a little more, I waited patiently for it to arrive. From day one, it's been in a "front row" spot on my car shelves. It's safe to say that of all my cars, this 1949 OLDSMOBILE 88 COUPE is one that I'd never part with.

I think what I actually like best about this Oldsmobile are those yellow rims. They accent the green of the car better than any other color could have. I'm sure glad they weren't red, as that would have had the car looking like Christmas.
My wife will tell you that the two colors I hate put together the most are red and green. During Christmas season I'm surrounded by those two colors.

Love this model and I agree with you George the yellow wheels really set off this model.
@al_dorado, hey I'd have been all over a '49 Olds Convertible or Hardtop too! If Danbury had come out with one, I'd still be cleaning up drool.

Great one today, George! This is a beautiful model and prominently displayed in my showcase. DM's rendition could pass for a 1:1, it's that well done!
