IT'S "MOPAR" I'VE GOT MAIL WEEK!

This mail day offered up not only the usual exciting Danbury Mint brochure, but also a car of luxury and prestige.  The 1958 CHRYLSER NEW YORKER HARDTOP was an elite automobile in its day.  The color on this one (SPRING GREEN & CYPRESS GREEN) also oozed that luxury and prestige perception.  It's beautiful!  The attention to detail and working features are extraordinary and they add to the appeal of it almost being real.  Danbury Mint simply nailed this one!

An absolute "Must-Have" for me. I am absolutely nuts about late 50s Mopar and would have bought every additional one they offered. The colors on this one is perfect. I had it ordered sight unseen when I called DM about something else, the sales person mentioned this one coming and I jumped on it.

John, your comments above about the car being mentioned while on the phone with the sales person.  Danbury Mint had the most incredible, courteous, and helpful staff to work with.  Many times when I'd call, they also would mention other cars that either were available or sometimes one that was not yet released but announced as coming.   So I too, placed some orders for cars that I'd not seen, but knew I'd want them.

I also agree with you about the late 50s Mopars, and I'd have also purchased any and all produced.  The late 50s Dodge's and DeSoto's would have been so welcome!

This is, indeed, a beautiful model which I am glad to say I own.

Loved these Mopars and bought every one when they came out. I  particularly like the colors on this one.

I had this one and sold it (same with the convertible). Those shrunken taillights on the '58 Chryslers always rubbed me the wrong way. Clearly a change for the sake of change, making the beautiful 1957 taillight much less beautiful with the change.

I do like the colors on this '58 very much, and the replicated upholstery inside too.

I have the '57 New Yorker convertible and both hardtop coupes.

I too love the late 50's early 60's mopars, but unfortunately these came out at a time when money was tight and I just did not get them.  Even today they bring big dollars on the used market.

@carsman1958, sad to hear.  Hope someday you'll be to add them to your collection.

I have the green New Yorker. It's extra special to me because our family doctor who was our neighbor had a Windsor in the darker shade of green. Many of the cars in my collection reflect a 1:1 that a friend, neighbor, or family member had. I refer to my collection as nostalgia driven.

@sizedoesmatter, the cars that we were subjected to are the cars that we're attracted to.  They represent where we've been and how things were.  Cars are a lot like songs, they bring us back to memories we cherish.
