Limited Edition 1955 Ford Fairlane Sunliner Convertible

When I opened the envelope that revealed this Flyer from DANBURY MINT, I'm not kidding you, my socks were literally knocked off!  As is the case with most of the cars I've collected, there is a memory that I can flashback to when seeing these little cars.  This particular model, has two memories.

MEMORY #1: In 1956 when I was just 5 years old there was a serious car accident on the corner down from our house.  A car just like this model was one of the victims.  I think to that point in time in my young life this was the worst car accident I'd seen.  For sure it's one that I've always remembered.  The front end of this car was smashed in really bad and the windshield was shattered.  Sadly, the guy driving it went through the windshield.  Now remember, I was just a kid, so for me, it was the car being wrecked that bothered me the most.

MEMORY #2: Since the 1970's going to old car shows, I'd never seen a "GOLDENROD & BLACK" Ford like this model until the late 1980's when there was a younger lady that would drive an identical car to some of the car shows.  Naturally, I was attracted to her car, but hey, the lady was really nice to look at too.  She became known as "the Bumble Bee Lady" (due to the colors of her car), but I learned quickly that she was not a good sport at these shows.  She would get mad if her car didn't win or place in the show and she would vocalize her disappointment.  I'll admit though, that I still struggled with what I liked looking at more, her car, or her.  LOL, I wasn't a kid anymore.

Adding this car to my collection was a must!

As special treat to this edition of "I'VE GOT MAIL", here are Tony Perrone's original Review Comments and Photos for the model.  He says it best, why this model should be in all of our collections.

This rare model is a gr8 representation of the fabulous Fairlane from the Ford Family of Fine Cars. Yellow & black was quite a popular color combo in the 1950s.  My family had an India Black over Yosemite Yellow 1953 Mercury Monterey sedan.

@evan-morgan, all of the '55 Ford's by both mints are worth adding to your collection.  Hope you are able to find them.
