DM's 1955 CHEVROLET BEL AIR SPORT COUPE
Ever since I was 5 years old, the '55 Chevy has been a cool car. All of us who love cars realize that 1955 was a monumental year for the automobile industry, as it ushered in spectacular new designs and styling and the All New and Chevrolet for '55 was no exception. It was touted as the "Hot One" and just seeing it was proof that it was!
Chevrolet has a part in almost every car lover's heart, as it has truly lived up to its advertising as being "The Heartbeat of America". Certainly the '55's got our hearts beating a little faster. It was the first of the famous "Tri-Chevy's" (55 through 57), and for me, it's the best of the trio.
DANBURY MINT gave us what I feel is the best '55 Chevy in 1:24 scale diecast and this Brochure convinced me of that even before I even held the actual model in my hands. I already had '55 Chevy's (from the other mint), but this one from Danbury was different. IT LOOKS REAL! The "Skyline Blue & India Ivory" two-tone color combination is both beautiful and calming. The only two things that was left out were the keys to the ignition and Dinah Shore singing, "See the USA in Your Chevrolet", but I can honestly tell you that when I pulled the Brochure out of the envelope, I actually heard her song in my head.
You don't have to be a Chevy lover to like this model, because if you're a model lover, then this is a model that say's you are! Having this car on my shelf reminds me that I was part of the world when it was simpler and kinder. I liked that world and I like this model.

George: This is by far the best version to me of the 3 years. Thanks for the look back.
A incredible model for sure, and to think i almost passed on this one. When I received the brochure, I was amazed by the color and look of the model, but I didn't need another '55 Chevy in my collection. I debated on it for awhile and tossed the brochure on my desk. I decided to order one simply because of the color. The blue & white was very appealing.
Boy I am glad I did, when I opened this one up, I was blown away as to fantastic it looked. Wow! It is my favorite '55 Chevy model, and I almost missed out.
Thanks George for the trip down Memory Lane. A good one today.

Wonderful model and color. My favorite year for the tri fives followed by the 56 and 57.

@sizedoesmatter, I like the one you had. I didn't mention it in my post above but a guy I worked with back in the 1980's had one just like your 2-door sedan and same color too.

A terrific version of the '55. DM made a great color choice, no 'conny kit' and removable fender skirts!
@perrone1, and DM had the rear windows down, making it a true hardtop look. FM had the windows up.

Yes sir!! HUGE improvement!
That’s a great model George! Another one I’m going to have to add “some day”

Put that "some day" on your calendar and make it happen. You won't be sorry you did. Hope you are doing well Phil. It's great to see you on the new Forum.

The day that I received the flyer I ordered this one,
I know it's a sin but I was never a big fan of the iconic, groundbreaking 1955 Chevrolet. That said, I think this now rare and pricey DM version is the best of the 1:24 bunch and I would love to have it. Their 1:16 rendition is quite nice, too, imo. I like the all windows down look, the color combo, that it doesn't have a continental kit and features removable skirts. I actually came close to acquiring a NIB one a few months ago but it was dependant on Nefarious Nancy's $600 stimulus check which I still have not received.
@al_dorado, LOL, not a sin for not really liking the '55. But sounds like you are considering seeking forgiveness by adding it to your parking lot. You are forgiven my son.
