A nicely arranged Flyer that grabs your attention with one of the most storied cars of a bygone era.  And in 1955 when all of The Big Three automakers delivered on style and beauty, PACKARD didn't disappoint.  FRANKLIN MINT gave us this "Three-Tone" Caribbean in what I believe was their most striking color combination.  This was a model that didn't allow me to have even a moments hesitation about ordering it.  It didn't say it on the Flyer, but I read "Must Have" as soon as I saw it.  AS the Flyer does say though, this was Packard's "Last Hurrah".  And sadly, it was.

Truth is, the 1955 Packard's wore an extensive facelift of the old 1951 body.  But it was offered with many styling updates that included "cathedral" taillights, peaked front fenders, an ornate grille, and the innovative wrap-a-round windshield.  Packard had finally ditched their antiquated straight-eights in favor of all-new V-8's.  The limited edition Caribbean hid a 352-cid V-8 under the hood that delivered 275 horsepower.

I have this one, too.  The Rose Quartz color is certainly striking.  Even nicer, imo, is the green "Pebble Beach" edition, which, I do not have.

I have all three color versions of this outstanding model.  All are (in my opinion) three of Franklin Mint's better releases.  I have always felt that they appear slightly bigger than 1:24 scale though.

TFM did a great job with '55 Packard. I have the "Pebble Beach" version.

An excellent model. I love the color combination of this one. The green one is also great and so is the often seen blue version.

@jcarnutz, I agree with you.  It's a beauty!  So question for you John, do you think they are just a little bigger than 1:24 scale, or is it just me?

I hadn't noticed that they are bigger really. I know they sit higher. But to be honest, I never compared them. I have one of the FMs out in my display, but the DMs are still packed, I will need to find one of them and compare.

I'll look forward to what you think after you compare them.  To my eyes, the FM '55 Packard is bigger the same as the FM '56 Chevy Nomad is a little bigger.  Or at least it appears to be.
